Pukerangiora Pā Interpretation Plan

Over the last few months, Pukerangiora Hapū has been exploring opportunities on how Pukerangiora Pā can be best presented to uphold the mana of the hapū and the Pā. This is a collaborative partnership between Pukerangiora hapū, Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa and DOC.

The current stage is to complete an Interpretation plan, this involves identifying possible stories the hapū want to share and how these are presented. Pukerangiora Pā has a long history and utilising structures onsite to increase awareness is an aspiration of the hapū. The use of modern technology to increase knowledge is another component being explored.

The hapū have been working alongside Chris Hay from Locales who has facilitated wānanga on interpreting the history of the Pā. Locales have worked on several significant sites in Aotearoa and around the world. Locales latest project has been Tupapa in Tūranga-nui-a-Kiwa.

The hapū will continue to hold more wānanga over the coming months for further engagement with the hapū. If you would like more information, please contact Pukerangiora Hapū at pukerangiorahapu@gmail.com
