This kaupapa is aimed at bringing Te Atiawa rangatahi together to enhance the connnection to their tūrangawaewae through the delivery of wānanga.
The key purpose of the wānanga will be Te Atiawatanga, Hapūtanga, Whānaungatanga, which is to strengthen the feeling of belonging amongst Te Atiawa rangatahi and deepen their connection to the iwi, the hapū, the marae, the people and the whenua.
The total people that identified as Te Atiawa in the 2013 census were 23,094. The proportion of the Te Atiawa population that were aged between 15-29 years was 5,181 (22.4%). The rangatahi wānanga will predominantly be targeted toward this age group with the potential to extend the age to 40 years.
