Te Kāhui Rangatahi o Te Atiawa

A kaupapa driven by Te Atiawa rangatahi.

This kaupapa is aimed at bringing Te Atiawa rangatahi together to enhance the connnection to their tūrangawaewae through the delivery of wānanga.

We are proud to be hosting our next Te Kāhui Rangatahi o Te Atiawa Wānanga on 19 – 21 May 2023 at Kairau Marae.

This Wānanga is open to uri aged 13 – 39 years old. It is important you register early so you can secure your place.

The wānanga objectives are to:

  • Strengthen identity and sense of belonging
  • Establish a stronger connection to the land and the people
  • Be more informed of what is happening with Te Atiawa, the hapū and the marae
  • Share positive experiences
  • Enhance understanding and knowledge of Te Atiawa kawa and tikanga
  • Increase awareness on wāhi tapu, history, and key events
  • Strengthen pride of belonging to Te Atiawa iwi

The total people that identified as Te Atiawa in the 2013 census were 23,094. The proportion of the Te Atiawa population that were aged between 15-29 years was 5,181 (22.4%). The rangatahi wānanga will predominantly be targeted toward this age group with the potential to extend the age to 39 years.
