HAERE RĀ MARK TUME
Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa wishes to acknowledge Mark Tume following the completion of his term as Chair of Te Atiawa Iwi Holdings LP and Te Atiawa (Taranaki) Holdings Limited earlier this month.
Over the past 10 years, Mark has provided strong and steady leadership across our commercial entities during a significant period of growth and development. Under his stewardship, our commercial asset base has grown substantially, alongside the delivery of important projects including Te Kekeu, Ngāmotu House, and most recently at Pukekura – The Parade.
Mark has played an important role in building the commercial capability, governance strength, and long-term strategic direction of our investment portfolio, helping position Te Atiawa for future generations.
In May, Mark was formally farewelled by the Commercial Board and Te Kotahitanga Trustees at the opening of Pukekura – The Parade, recognising both his leadership and contribution over the past decade.
On behalf of Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa, we extend our sincere appreciation to Mark for his commitment, service, and leadership.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF TE ATIAWA IWI HOLDINGS LP AND TE ATIAWA (TARANAKI) HOLDINGS CHAIR PERSON
We are now pleased to announce the appointment of Rachel Winder as Chair of Te Atiawa Iwi Holdings LP and Te Atiawa (Taranaki) Holdings Limited, effective from May 2026.
Rachel brings extensive governance and property sector experience to the role, alongside a strong commercial skillset that will support the continued evolution of our commercial activities and strategic direction.
As Te Atiawa continues to grow its property and investment portfolio, Rachel’s leadership and experience will help guide the next phase of development across our commercial entities. Her appointment reflects the ongoing strengthening of the Commercial Board and our commitment to ensuring the right mix of capability and expertise to support long-term intergenerational outcomes for our iwi.
We look forward to Rachel’s contribution as Chair and the leadership she will bring to this important role.

A vote is to be taken to amend and ratify the Trust Deed of Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa Trust and constitution of Te Atiawa (Taranaki) Holding Limited for compliance with the Māori Fisheries Amendment Act 2024, the updated Māori Fisheries Act 2004, and related updates.
- All registered iwi members aged 18 and over are eligible to vote;
- For whānau who are not registered, registration forms may be downloaded from the Te Atiawa website – www.teatiawa.iwi.nz
- Voting closes at the end of the SGM on Sunday, 5 July 2026.
To cast your vote, members may use the post-paid reply envelope, place the voting paper in the ballot box, or vote electronically to the Chief Returning Officer.

WHEELIE FUN DAY
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa e te whānau, for coming along and being part of our Wheelie Fun Day!
What an amazing day filled with laughter, movement, and connection. The kaupapa truly came alive through whakawhanaungatanga, as around 150 of us gathered to share in a relaxed, welcoming, fun event.
It was beautiful to see our parents and rangatahi leading the way, supporting and caring for our tamariki, with our kaimahi busy behind the scenes — running the BBQ, keeping everyone safe, and capturing all those special moments.
The roller skating brought so much joy, with tamariki (and adults too!) wheeling, wobbling, and smiling all day long. It was a day full of fun, energy, and togetherness — a real celebration of our Te Atiawatanga.
Ngā mihi aroha ki a koutou katoa — thank you for bringing the wairua and making this such a memorable day. We look forward to many more moments like this together!

TERTIARY SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
Ngā Poutahua Ā-Tau – Education Grants and Scholarships 2026

We are proud to share an update on our 2026 Education Scholarships and Grants programme, which continues to uplift lifelong learning, recognise excellence, and support access to education pathways for our people.
This year, we were thrilled to receive over 220 applications across our grants and scholarships, reflecting the strength, ambition, and dedication within our whānau. It is always inspiring to see so many of our people striving towards their educational goals.
We are pleased to confirm that our Education Grants for 2026 are now complete. Through these, we were able to support uri across a range of stages:
- 52 Pou Kōrero Grants were awarded to our secondary school tauira in Years 11–13
- 122 Pou Wānanga Grants were awarded across tertiary study, including fees-free, part-time, and full-time pathways
To all grant recipients – tēnā koutou. We are honoured to contribute to your journeys and wish you every success in the year ahead.
Alongside our grants, we are especially proud to acknowledge our 2026 Scholarship recipients, who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and excellence in their chosen fields.
Our Pou Tina Postgraduate Scholarship has been awarded to Teresa Foster, who is undertaking a PhD in Māori Health (Rongoā Wairua). This kaupapa is deeply significant, contributing to the wellbeing of our people and the preservation and advancement of mātauranga Māori for generations to come.
We also warmly congratulate our Pou Whenua Undergraduate Scholarship recipients, who are pursuing a range of impactful study pathways:

- Olivia Bailey-Masters – Bachelor of Education (Teaching – Early Childhood)

This joint scholarship has been established to recognise and nurture emerging talent, while encouraging our tauira to continue striving towards their academic and personal aspirations. It reflects a shared commitment to investing in the future of Te Atiawa through education and leadership development.
The scholarship is open to tauira who can demonstrate whakapapa to Te Atiawa, along with strong evidence of their active involvement in Te Atiawa community kaupapa. These foundations ensure that recipients not only pursue academic success but also remain deeply connected to and contribute meaningfully back to their people.

TE WHAKATUWHERATANGA O PUKEKURA
I te rā 13 o Haratua, i whakanuia e Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa me ōna pāranga whanaunga te whakatūwheratanga o Pukekura – The Parade — he kaupapa whakahirahira i roto i te kaupapa hanganga whare, ā, he mea whakatinana hoki i ngā wawata, ngā uara me te oranga tonutanga o tō tātou iwi.
On 13 May, Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa proudly celebrated the opening of Pukekura – The Parade — a significant milestone in our journey to create housing developments that reflect the aspirations, values and future of our iwi.
Located within the rohe of Ngāti Te Whiti, this development has been strongly guided and supported by our hapū throughout. From early planning through to the opening, their leadership, mātauranga and kaitiakitanga have helped ensure the project honours the history, whakapapa and cultural significance of this whenua and the wider community. We acknowledge Ngāti Te Whiti for their partnership and ongoing support in bringing this vision to life.
Pukekura – The Parade represents the strength of kotahitanga — bringing together iwi, hapū and community to create a development that connects people to place, and to each other, here in the heart of Ngāmotu.
This is more than a housing development. It reflects years of planning, collaboration and commitment, and a shared belief that by investing in our whenua and our people, we can create lasting outcomes for future generations.
We also acknowledge the key partners who have helped bring this development to life, including Te Atiawa Iwi Holdings Limited Partnership, Solari Architects and Livingstone Building as lead contractors. Their expertise and shared commitment to the kaupapa have been instrumental in delivering a development we can all be proud of.
A key focus throughout the project has been achieving strong Māori procurement outcomes. By supporting Māori businesses, contractors and workers, we are helping to grow capability and strengthen our iwi economy. This is an important part of how we ensure developments like this deliver benefits well beyond the homes themselves.
We also acknowledge the special relationships built along the way, particularly with the whānau and tamariki of Central School Te Kura Waenga o Ngāmotu. It has been a privilege to see tamariki engaging with the development, learning about what is happening in their community, and sharing in the journey as it came to life. These connections are a reminder that our work is ultimately about people — creating places where whānau can thrive.
As an iwi, we are incredibly proud to see Pukekura – The Parade come to fruition. Commercial developments like this strengthen our ability to continue delivering affordable rental housing and progressive home ownership opportunities for our people.
Through this kaupapa, we are building not just homes, but futures — ensuring our whānau have access to secure, quality housing for generations to come.
To Ngāti Te Whiti, our whānau, partners and all those who contributed — tēnā koutou katoa. This is an achievement we can all be proud of.
