More Info
As summer begins and our region moves into a season of warmth and renewal, the Ngāmotu Marae project also enters a new phase on its journey toward becoming a marae for our hapū and for our city.
On Saturday 13 December, hapū members will gather at 1 Bayly Road for the laying of the mauri. This is a significant moment in the cultural formation of a marae. The mauri will be placed in the whenua beneath the future location of the Poutuarongo, the central post that will one day stand at the heart of the wharenui.
This ceremony connects the marae, our people, and the land. Together we are honouring our ancestors and grounding our future in the tikanga and whakapapa of Ngāti Te Whiti.
As this important project continues to evolve and the vision becomes reality, we will continue to share updates and information here on our website. We encourage you to check in regularly and walk alongside us.
