Study Maanaki Marae! practical learning is based on
Kairau Marae, with tikanga and te reo woven throughout the program.
You will learn about
- Tikanga
- Food preparation
- Cooking and presenting kai
- How to prepare kai under supervision
The free course is kai mahi (food worker) and ringawera (marae catering) on the Marae.
You will develop the knowledge and the skills to required to cook routine dishes in the wharekai for large groups.
When you graduate you will be able to deliver a basic range of cookery, preparation and serving technics inline with tikanga.
The program is made up of weekly Thursday afternoon sessions at WITT and 8 noho weekends at Kairau Marae
