The Minister of Conservation released a public discussion document last week which outlines a number of proposed options to enable healthy and restored whitebait populations and to provide for a sustainable fishery. The discussion documents are available on the Department of Conservation website: https://www.doc.govt.nz/whitebait-management. A public consultation meeting is being held on 29 January 2020 at 2-4pm at the New Plymouth Club to discuss the proposals.
Submissions to the proposals are due 2 March 2020 at 9am.
